What is two-stage paint correction?

Two stages of machine polishing. The first cut levels the clear coat to remove swirls and light scratches, typically 85 to 90% of paint defects. The second refines the finish to remove haze and bring back clear, deep reflections. At MCC it's finished with a Gtechniq or Modesta ceramic coating, takes 2 to 3 days and starts from £695 inc VAT.

Will it remove deep scratches?

Most of them. Two-stage correction removes the vast majority of surface scratches. If a scratch catches your fingernail, it has probably gone through the clear coat: we can round off the edges so it's far less visible, but it may not disappear completely without a repaint.

How much clear coat does it remove?

As little as the job needs. Russ measures the paint depth before correcting, so the cut is matched to how much clear coat your car actually has, and soft or thin paint is treated more gently. The aim is to remove the defects, not chase perfection at the expense of the paint.

How long does paint correction last?

The correction itself is permanent: removed swirls don't come back. New ones can be put in by poor washing, which is why every correction is sealed with a ceramic coating (5-year Gtechniq or 3-year Modesta as standard) and why safe washing matters afterwards.

Should I correct my paint before PPF or ceramic coating?

Yes, if it's swirled. PPF and ceramic coating both seal in whatever is underneath, defects included. Correct first, then protect, and the good finish is what gets locked in. Every MCC PPF and coating job starts with paint preparation for exactly this reason.
